This antique Persian Bakhtiari, boasts a beautifully constructed garden design, with intricate stylized flowers in each section of the pattern.

The rug can be seen in Gimbels 1926 sale catalogue (page 13) for the sale taking place after the end of the Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition in Philadelphia.  This world’s fair, hosted in Pennsylvania, celebrated the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independance, and the 50th anniversary of the 1876 Centennial Exposition.

Gimbels, having bought out the entire inventory brought to this world’s fair from Iran by Persian collector Ali Akber Kiachif, gives detailed information about the rugs and their source as seen below in this 1926 catalogue.
